I’m not sure if that’s true of everyone, but I definitely feel like that!
The way our voices sound when we listen to a recording is the same sound that reaches other people and it is going through a different environment to that when we hear our voices in our head. The sound on a playback is travelling through air and bouncing off walls, furniture or whatever else might be around us – we are only hearing it in one way.
When we hear our voices when we speak, it is distorted because we are experiencing the vibrations directly and simultaneously as we hear the sound we produce. So we are effectively hearing it in two ways at the same time.

I’m with you both on this one. I don’t like hearing the sound of my own voice either
