Hmm, depends what you compare it to, but I’d say 5. We take a huge number of precautions to make sure that all of the experiments we do are as safe as possible, so, as long as we follow all the safety rules, the risks are actually quite low, most of the time (of course, some chemicals are always very dangerous, whatever you do; we try to avoid those).
I’d say my job is not at all dangerous! The most dangerous thing I usually do in the day is crossing roads in central London (which can be quite dangerous!).
My job is probably about 3 on the dangerous scale. We’re not allowed in the room when the X-rays are on so it’s not that dangerous really. If I was allowed in the room when the X-rays are on then it would shoot up to 10 on the dangerous scale
My job is not very dangerous either, a 3 maybe. There’s a small chance that I could burn my fingers when I melt cables together, or cut myself during surgeries… but most of this is really just down to ‘Clumsiness hurts’. 🙂
