Yes, absolutely! Of course there are always more and less fun bits (filling out forms… I don’t like filling out forms…), but they are all in the service of something I’m really excited about. It’s also one of those jobs where you really get to know yourself – what makes you tick, what you’re good at, where you need help etc.. And I think that’s the best thing you can hope to get out of any career you choose!
Yes, most of the time! Sometimes my experiments don’t work, which is frustrating, but it’s fun to be able to play with chemicals and see what happens :-)!
Yes. Most of the time it is very fun. I get to decide exactly what I want to research so it means that I can make up what I do most days. I can choose to read maths and science to learn more, I can choose to write computer programs I can choose to go in the lab and make crystals of proteins.
Sometimes there are things that have to be done that I find quite boring like filling out forms.
