Our bodies are making lots of heat all the time. We get rid of this heat by sweating, circulating blood close to the surface of the skin, and breathing out hot, humid air. This works best when the outside temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius, and keeps our core body temperature at about 37 degrees. However, if our surroundings get hotter and/or more humid, it is more difficult for our body to cool itself and maintain it’s internal temperature of 37 degrees, and so we feel hot.
