0 Question: Will your project sill involve shooting Xrays at the proteins? Keywords: protein, x-ray Asked by Shekinah to Jonny on 23 Jun 2015.
Jonny Brooks-Bartlett answered on 23 Jun 2015:
I don’t know exactly what you mean by this.
My project does involve shooting crystals made of protein molecules with X-rays. Then I try to analyse what damage is happening to the proteins
Shekinah commented on 24 Jun 2015:
I wasn’t sure if you were still using Xray or finding another way to analyse the proteins. Thank you

Some people use other things to look at proteins. Electrons, but they damage things more, neutrons but they take ages to do anything, magnets, but they’re expensive and hard to interpret. So X-rays are just one of many things we can use.
