Scientists don’t know exactly what it is that allows lizards to regrow some of their body parts but they have found some parts of their DNA (called genes) that are involved in regrowth.
What this means is that they’ll be able to see which proteins those genes make and then study how those proteins work together to make their body parts grow.
Humans seem to have most of those genes but they are mostly “turned off” so we don’t fully regrow limbs.
