I studied all kinds of dance. Although I trained in ballet (so I know the most about that) I studied physiology, biomechanics and exercise rehabilitation (plus lot of other stuff) in different sports and all types of dance. Street dance is a really interesting one because the centre of gravity is in a completely different place. Also the emphasis on the upper body is different, and we are starting to get dancers who cross between contemporary dance and street. I’d also say that each dance style is really specific, so what works in ballet, might not work in contemporary, and might not work in street. The science that gets applied, needs to be specific.
